Kevin Costner is gearing up for the premiere of his passion project, “Horizon: An American Saga,” at the Cannes Film Festival in May, but he recently took a moment to address an important question for fans: Will he be making a comeback to “Yellowstone”?
As a quick reminder, “Yellowstone” has been on hiatus since January 2023 due to prolonged strikes by SAG-AFTRA and WGA, along with behind-the-scenes turmoil, delaying the return of Season 5.
Paramount Network has confirmed the series’ return in November, but it remains uncertain if Kevin, portraying the patriarch of the Dutton family, will grace the screen again.
Kevin made an appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where he received the Visionary Award (sporting some distinctive new facial hair!). In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he discussed his potential involvement in the final episodes of “Yellowstone.”
He explained, “I’d like to be able to do it, but we haven’t been able to…I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out—I hope it does—but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on.
Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”
The actor has contemplated how the series might conclude for John Dutton. He said, “Well, you know, he needs to be proactive in what happens, and I’ve kind of had my own fantasy how it might be, but that’s Taylor [Sheridan]’s thing. I said as much to him a while back. I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see.”
Fans eagerly await the series’ return in the fall to see if Kevin Costner will reprise his role in “Yellowstone.”
