Steph Curry responds to the WNBA draft selections in 2024

On Monday night, during the 2024 WNBA Draft, the Los Angeles Sparks chose Cameron Brink as the second pick. She had some special support from her godbrother, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, who cheered her on, even though he couldn’t be there in person in New York where the draft took place. Instead, his mom, Sonya Curry, who is also Brink’s godmother, attended.

The connection between the Curry and Brink families goes way back to their days at Virginia Tech. Both sets of parents, Sonya and Dell Curry, and Michelle Bain-Brink and Greg Brink, were at the college.

Sonya and Michelle were roommates, while Dell and Greg played basketball together. This bond has lasted from the 1980s to today, with the families even becoming godparents to each other’s children.

Brink’s journey into basketball started during holidays when she visited the Curry family. It was at one of these visits that she decided to attend Dell’s basketball camp, even though she wasn’t initially interested in sports.

Her college career at Stanford was remarkable, culminating in winning a national championship. Now, being drafted even higher than Stephen Curry was, she has some serious bragging rights.

After being drafted, Brink shared a funny story about Seth Curry, saying that he hung up on her during a FaceTime call. Despite this, she expressed love for both brothers and knows they’ll support her in her basketball career.
