BMI Artists Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson Celebrate Triple No. 1

Yesterday (2/22), BMI record-breaking artists Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson teamed up to celebrate the success of Jelly Roll’s hit songs “Need a Favor” and “Save Me,” both of which went Platinum.

Meanwhile, Wilson celebrated her fifth consecutive No. One at Country radio with “Watermelon Moonshine.” The event, hosted by BMI and ASCAP, brought together over 250 music industry members and friends at Nashville’s Tin Roof.

They were joined by co-writers Rob Ragosta (BMI), Joe Ragosta (ASCAP), Austin Nivarel (ASCAP), David Ray (BMI), and Josh Kear (ASCAP), who collaborated on the songs.

BMI’s Clay Bradley and Shannon Sanders led the event, highlighting the achievements of Jelly Roll’s “Need a Favor,” which became his second consecutive No. One at Country radio and topped the Rock airplay charts for several weeks.

His duet with Wilson, “Save Me,” earned him his first Grammy nomination and a nomination for “Musical Event of the Year” at the 57th annual CMA Awards. In 2023, Jelly Roll became one of only three artists, alongside Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, to achieve three Country Airplay No. Ones.

Wilson’s song “Watermelon Moonshine,” which reached No. One at Country radio in just 18 weeks, was also celebrated. It became the fastest climbing No. One for a solo female song since Carrie Underwood’s “Church Bells” in 2016. The track is featured on Wilson’s award-winning album, “Bell Bottom Country.”

The event, sponsored by Studio Bank, included a donation to Rainbow Omega, Inc., a non-profit supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The donation was made by Jelly Roll, Wilson, and the songwriters.
